How do I calculate the Square Root in the Text Box Form Field in Word 2007? Basically, you have to think in reverse, or backwards to get the square root of any number in a Word Text Box Form Field. In other words, I'm not aware of a Square Root symbol that will work in calculating within a Text Box field. Instead, I use the "to the power" symbol ^, which is holding down the Shift key and pressing 6 on the keyboard. We know that 8^2, or eight to the 2nd power is 8 x 8 = 64. Thinking backwards to get the Square Root of 64 would be 64^0.5. or raising it to the 1/2 power. Learn more and purchase our Microsoft Certified Trainer videos on Word 2007 below...
